We are very excited that Shellharbour Scuba Centre has won another award! We have received the Aquanaut Outstanding Regional Dealer for 2008! So congratulations to the staff for their hard efforts to make Shellharbour Scuba one of the best!
Here at Shellharbour Scuba we live
to dive, and we want to share our love and passion for the sport! We do this by
running social dives every weekend and Thursday nights, catering for all
experience levels and having regular courses- from Open water to Dive master.
(We have the PADI 5 Star rating!) You'll find us only one and a half hours
drive south of Sydney on the NSW Illawarra Coast. We are lucky to have one of
the best and most accessible shore dive locations in the area. So why not come
and dive with us soon.
We run four social dives over the weekend, Saturday
and Sunday mornings and afternoons. Our morning shore dive is nice and simple,
meeting at the shop at 8:30 am and usually leaving around 9 (depending on how
much chatter is going on). We normally dive the Gutter at Bass Point- one of
our favourite places to dive. From there we can reach a whole bunch of
different places, our main attraction being the Blue Devil cave. At the Devil
cave we can see an Eastern Blue Devil fish, and depending on the time of year
there could be a baby Weedy sea dragon or perhaps some calamari eggs, there
could be some spiders scuttling about or shrimp hiding in a crevice and chances
are you’ll see some nudibranchs lazing around.
In the afternoons we run more adventurous dives for
those up to the challenge! To attend the afternoon dive we ask that you come on
the morning dive first just so our dive master can get a good idea of your
experience. So in the afternoon we may take the scooters for a rip or we might
take the twin tanks for a dip or we might combine the two for a scooter/ twin
dive just to mix things up! The options are never ending! We have seven
scooters ready to go, this is truly something unique to try! And we also have a
whole bunch of twin tanks with manifolds in hire, it couldn’t be any easier! We
once did a twin trip ranging five and half kilometres!! Get in on the action
and try them for yourself you never know what you’ll find! our local seal, Alex
loves to play with people on the scooters when he isn’t trying to catch his
lunch! Depending on conditions we may be able to dive Kiama and do the caves
off Kendall’s beach or if your really lucky the Kiama blow hole. Or you might
go for an exploratory dive off the gutter and see what you can come across.
We also run Thursday night dives, for divers with
busy weekends or interested in nocturnal creatures. Depending on the time of
year it may be a full on night dive or during the summer twilight dives. We
meet at the shop at 5:30pm and leave about 6pm; we hire out torches if it’s
your first time.
