Give Scuba Diving a Go
Water makes up more than 70 per cent of the Earth’s surface, yet many people have never had a real glimpse of the wondrous world under the sea.
Scuba diving is the easiest and safest way to explore the hidden treasures below, and these days it is accessible to almost everyone.
Anyone who has wanted to dive but has not been confident enough to take the plunge should know that scuba diving is generally considered a very safe recreational activity. Our courses are run by experienced instructors with your well-being and enjoyment as their absolute priorities.
It only takes a few days to learn to dive at a dive centre, and once you are certified you will have access to thousands of amazing dive sites where you can experience stunning marine life.
Once you have that certificate, you can hire scuba gear and diving equipment from any diving store in Australia and indeed around the world. Many people who go diving for the first time will then want to repeat the experience, so it can be handy to have your own diving gear. Your instructor can help you select the most suitable. The best thing about owning your own gear is that you become familiar with it and therefore become totally comfortable with the apparatus in an underwater environment.
What to Expect on a Scuba Course
A scuba course involves theory sessions, pool training and open water dives. In the theory session you will learn about the basics of diving and how the equipment works. In the pool session you will build confidence and become ready to experience your first dive. The open water dive will be conducted under the strict supervision of an instructor who will work within controlled guidelines.
The instructor will fit your scuba gear and give you the diving equipment you have been taught to use. Then it’s time to explore! Elaborate coral structures, radiant and colourful tropical fish and turtles are just some of the stunning sights you will see underwater. Get some experience under your belt and you will also be able to start exploring shipwrecks. It should be an unforgettable experience.
Scuba diving is essentially breathing under water, so most people will want to know how long a tank of air will last. This can depend on several factors, including the depth you’re diving to, your aerobic capacity and the capacity of the tank itself. Your instructor will be able to tell you exactly how to breathe easily when submerged.
You will need to bring a towel, swimmers and snorkelling gear to the scuba course.
If you’ve been longing to have an underwater experience perhaps it’s time to take the first step and enrol in a course. You’ll wish you’d done it earlier!
